The first part of the process is to attend a two day (five total hours) class that teaches:
WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT MINISTRY
When you are finished with this section you will understand what it means to serve, the purpose of serving, and why you should serve.
THE PROCESS OF DISCOVERING HOW GOD HAS MADE YOU TO SERVE
Just knowing that you ought to serve isn’t good enough. The next step is understanding how you should serve. The second half of the class teaches a specific process for figuring out what God might be calling you to do.
The reflection portion of S.E.R.V.E. is done through an online survey (“servey”) that is designed to take people through the process that is explained in the second section of the class portion of this process. This survey takes approximately two hours to complete and pushes people to consider five important aspects of their lives that will help them see more clearly how God might be calling them to serve.
The final portion of the S.E.R.V.E. process is to meet with an pastors of Creekside Bible Church. This meeting offers you and him the opportunity to discuss how God might be calling you to serve. The point of the conversation is not that the elder tells you what to do, but helps you think through the data that you have generated through the “servey.” It will also allow for you to hear of any ministry opportunities/needs that the church currently has (No worries, if none of these fit you, we will not try to get you to do them anyway!). When the meeting is over the pastor will either put you in contact with the proper ministry leader so that you can begin serving or, if no current ministry fits, continue to work with you to see what God might want to do with you in a future ministry.
