Gathering FAQ’s

Below you can find answers to frequently asked questions about our Sunday gathering. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We are hoping you will visit and want to make doing so as comfortable as possible.

When is your service?

Our weekly service is on Sunday morning at 9:45a.

We also have Connect Groups that meet on various days and times throughout the week and other special events.

Where is your service?

Our Sunday service is in the Old Church at McMenamins in Wilsonville. The address is:

30340 SW Boones Ferry Rd.
Wilsonville, OR, 97070
Directions

Is McMenamins a restaurant?

McMenamins is a restaurant, but the Old Church section is only used for special events such as showing sporting events, weddings, and (now) a church service. It isn’t full of tables and chairs, but has been carefully renovated to maintain its historical value as one of the oldest church buildings in Oregon.

What is your service like?

Our Sunday morning service (we call it our “gathering”) is driven by our belief that God most clearly manifests His presence when the church meets together. Because of this belief we make three things a priority when we gather together – prayer to God, music to God, and studying the Word of God.

On Sunday mornings we meet for one hour to do these three things. Our prayers are honest and sincere. Our music is not directed at being contemporary or traditional, but instead on being a means in which people can fully express their love and devotion to God (whether the songs are old or new). Our preaching is biblical and relevant, with the goal of helping people know better what God wants from their lives. We are not flashy or showy, but we do our best to honor God when we come together.

At Creekside we really want to meet you and so we hope you will come find out about our gathering for yourself.

Where do my kids go?

Because we believe that God most clearly manifests his presence when the church meets together, we believe that it is important and valuable for children to be with their families during our services. For this reason and others (i.e. children learn by example and Scripture seemingly points towards children worshiping with their families) children stay in the service with their families to sing, pray, and learn.

At the back of the sanctuary are designated children’s tables that you are welcome to have your child sit at. These tables are supervised by one of our trained volunteers and contain materials to help your child focus and engage during the entire service.

Since my kids will be in the service, what if they make noise?

We believe a church should be like a family and families are not always quiet.  We understand that children make noise – sometimes at the wrong time. At Creekside we have made a commitment to accept the distractions because we believe so strongly in the benefit of children staying in the church service. Our primary goal is not that children will be quiet, but that they will connect more fully to God and the Church.

This said, we ask that you, as a parent, prepare your child ahead of the service by talking to them about listening quietly when appropriate. We also ask that if your child becomes noisy to the point that it distracts everyone or others cannot hear, you take them out of the area until the they have quieted.  The downstairs of the Old Church is available in case of this scenario. Please note that sitting and/or playing quietly at the back of the room with parental supervision is acceptable.

What should I wear?

Honestly, dress comfortably. Need us to be more specific? People wear everything from jeans and a t-shirts to dresses and collared shirts (Photo Tour).

Can I listen to the sermons online?

Yes. You can listen to our Sunday sermons on this site or you can download them on iTunes.

Can I listen to the music online?

Not at this time. It is something we are working towards being able to offer.
