The Adoption Program Manager will manage the pre-and post-adoption programs on a day-to-day basis and be involved in program development and planning, budgeting, staffing, training, program evaluation, and office management. Ensures that all services are provided according to agency policies, licensing standards and accreditation criteria. Ensures that services are client and family centered.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Remote position, you MUST be located in NC, travel 25% to counties in west and central areas of state primarily.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and funding source rules and regulations including Post Adoption Support Services grant, state licensure, Medicaid, Joint Commission, and the Teaching-Family Association or other chosen models of care.
  • Responsible for developing and operating all programs within approved budgets that enable the program to be self-sustaining.
  • Work with executive leadership to define strategic goals and objectives to expand services.
  • Ensures the program operates a data-driven culture as evidenced by conducting all agency approved standardized assessments and surveys.
  • Recruit, supervise, and evaluate the staff in the program as evidenced by monthly written supervision. Conduct performance discussions when staff are to be found out of compliance with agency policy & procedure, or when there is a deviation of expected performance.
  • Act as a liaison between client and community agencies. Will have the ability to effectively communicate with caregivers on specific issues related to diagnosis, treatment and clients. Must work with a variety of professionals representing various disciplines related to the client’s specific needs, and have the skill in facilitating multidisciplinary teams and coordinating the delivery of services from a variety of sources and professionals.
  • Develop systems for ensuring regional consortium meetings occur for the purpose of enhancing collaboration and delivery of services and opportunities to support adoptive families and children.
  • Provides consultation to foster and adoptive parents, and staff as needed and responsible for administering an on-call structure 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Provide support and training to clients and staff related to behavioral and treatment strategies and interventions through the use of the Teaching Family Model and other chosen treatment models.
  • Operates program with family/client centered values. When necessary participate in program and activity planning related to therapeutic activities and treatment.
  • Responsible for creating processes for completing all client and family admissions/discharges for the Adoption Program including home licensure, all required documentation, and placement of clients. Assists with appropriate matching and services to support successful adoptions.
  • Monitors program outcomes and success through a comprehensive Continuous Quality Improvement plan.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related human services field and two years post degree direct experience with child/adolescent mental health population or Unrelated degree and four years post degree direct experience; prefer Master’s degree in human services field and one year of post graduate experience with the population served. Must possess a minimum of two year’s direct service with clients/families in a similar setting (one year if holding a Master’s Degree) plus a minimum of one year supervisory/management experience
  • Must have prior demonstrated experience in leadership and successful history of working with children and families, group facilitation, and culturally diverse programming and interactions.
  • Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting trainer (or other approved model) and experience in the implementation of the Teaching Family Model, cognitive behavioral interventions and trauma informed care is required
  • Meet criteria for a Qualified Professional based on education and experience.
  • Must have the ability to convey information to families, professional clinicians, and community agencies in culturally sensitive and respectful manner
  • Must be able to work with a variety of individuals and professionals representing various disciplines related to the client’s specific needs
  • Requires knowledge and the ability to practically implement mental health regulations and extensive knowledge of family systems, family therapy, and behavioral interventions.
  • Must be culturally sensitive to children and families and support cultural diversity throughout the program
  • Requires effective communication, decision making, interpersonal, leadership and professionalism skills and abilities
  • Must have basic computer and math skills.
