Job Description

Company Overview:

We are an innovative startup developing a large fixed-wing UAV and a fleet of small quadcopters. Our mission is to revolutionize aerial technology through advanced UAV systems integrated with cutting-edge simulation and robotics software.

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Aerospace/Mechanical Engineer with strong CAD expertise to design and model the structural components of our UAVs. The ideal candidate will create detailed CAD models suitable for both manufacturing and integration into Unreal Engine simulations. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams to bring our UAV designs from concept to reality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • UAV Design and CAD Modeling:

    • Design structural components for fixed-wing UAVs and quadcopters.
    • Create detailed 3D CAD models using industry-standard software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor).
    • Develop engineering drawings and documentation for manufacturing processes.
  • Simulation Integration:

    • Collaborate with simulation engineers to ensure CAD models are compatible with Unreal Engine.
    • Optimize models for real-time rendering and physics simulation within the virtual environment.
  • Structural Analysis and Material Selection:

    • Perform stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA) on UAV components.
    • Select appropriate materials to meet performance, weight, and safety requirements.
  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with software engineers, simulation engineers, and embedded systems engineers.
    • Participate in design reviews, provide feedback, and contribute to project planning.
  • Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure designs comply with relevant aerospace standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in UAV or aerospace vehicle design.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA, Autodesk Inventor).
  • Experience with structural analysis tools and FEA software.
  • Strong understanding of aerodynamics and flight mechanics.
  • Familiarity with integrating CAD models into simulation environments like Unreal Engine.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
