Hiring: Archaeologist Location: Houston, TX Salary: based on experience Schedule: Full-time Hybrid (after initial training) About the Role Central Texas Recruiting is seeking a skilled Archaeologist to join a growing civil engineering team. This role involves managing and performing Phase I–III archaeological fieldwork, lab analysis, research, and report writing, with a focus on Texas and surrounding states. You'll work closely with Senior Archaeologists and technical staff to ensure high-quality project outcomes. Key Responsibilities Conduct archaeological field investigations and identify artifacts and site presence. Collect and analyze data from fieldwork and lab studies. Document research methods, findings, and investigative processes. Prepare archaeological reports and site forms under Senior Archaeologist guidance. Contribute to project decision‑making and recommend solutions to mitigate impacts on archaeological resources. Prepare artifacts and records for curation. Collaborate with field, lab, and office teams to maintain professional quality standards. Qualifications & Requirements Work Eligibility: U.S. Work Authorization Required. Education & Experience Master’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field from an accredited institution. Must meet Secretary of the Interior’s Qualification Standards for Archaeologists. Minimum 4 years of experience, including at least 1 year of supervisory experience. Regional experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology. Proven experience in Phase I–III fieldwork. Must provide a writing sample (thesis, dissertation, or archaeological report). Valid driver’s license. Preferred Skills & Abilities Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPA) preferred. Experience with ArcGIS Pro, Field Maps, Google Earth, or other GIS software. Familiarity with Texas Antiquities Permit process. Lab and artifact curation experience. Strong written and oral communication skills.
