Overview This position supports the Bureau of Land Management Taos Field Office. This position can be in-person, hybrid, or remote. Travel to site will be required. Base pay range $50.00/hr - $50.00/hr Location: Taos Program: BLM Hours/Week: 20 hours/week Minimum Age: 55 This position is part of the BLM Experienced Services Program (ESP). The program connects experienced workers (age 55+) to the BLM to provide scientific, technical, and administrative support. ESP positions are temporary, project-based. Responsibilities (Duties) Conducts National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 compliance projects within the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument (RGDNNM) and Taos Field Office. Assists with Section 106 projects and activities related to planning, environmental processes, and compliance records. Serves as technical liaison between the field office and other entities, including state and federal offices, Indian Tribal Governments, contractors, and external customers. 65% Program Development and Coordination - Coordinates NHPA program oversight to interdisciplinary teams in land use plan implementation, data collection, resource assessment, and decision-making efforts. Coordinates monitoring to ensure decisions are implemented and desired effects achieved. Reviews planning documents and recommends changes to comply with directives. 15% Assist with other work related to the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument and Taos Field Office as needed. 20% Qualifications Minimum: 10 years of experience in Anthropology/Archaeology OR BA/BS Degree in Anthropology/Archaeology with experience in Anthropology/Archaeology Operation of four-wheel drive vehicles. Navigation skills using GPS coordinates. Experience with Windows, MS Word, MS Excel Collector Microsoft SharePoint, Teams Other Required Certifications: MS/MA degree in Archaeology is preferred Travel Requirements: Depends on enrollee location Overnight travel: Depends on enrollee location Air travel anticipated: Depends on enrollee location Rental cars: Depends on enrollee location Health and Safety Considerations: Basic First Aid and CPR Required Safety Gear: In Reach device Safety Gear Use: Fieldwork Physical requirements: Work is mostly field-based. Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Must be able to hike into difficult areas for up to 5 miles per day. Possible occasional overnight trips to the field.
