Job Title: Commercial Finance Manager

Job Summary: The Commercial Finance Manager will provide financial leadership and guidance for the company’s North American operations. This role focuses on developing pricing benchmarks, key operational and financial metrics, and delivering strategic insights to achieve business goals. Key responsibilities include long-term strategic planning, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and decision support.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Analysis & Pricing

  • Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders by providing financial insights and recommendations to drive profitable growth.
  • Establish, maintain, and update cost and pricing benchmarks for existing and pipeline products.
  • Conduct financial analyses to evaluate investment proposals for medical devices and recommend strategies for sustainable growth.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to meet financial objectives.

Business Partnering

  • Analyze pricing strategies and profitability across product lines, customer segments, and geographic regions.
  • Evaluate the financial impact of sales promotions, rebates, and other commercial initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize pricing, product mix, and sales channels to enhance revenue and profitability.

Strategic Planning and Decision Support

  • Assist in evaluating mergers and acquisitions (M&A) by building financial models, conducting due diligence, and collaborating with stakeholders.
  • Provide insights and recommendations for acquisition and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Review and recommend changes to contracts related to M&A and in-licensing projects.
  • Ensure smooth post-deal transitions and track compliance with financial and operational agreements.

Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes.
  • Deliver strategic financial guidance to senior management by analyzing key performance indicators (KPIs) and identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to assess potential business decisions.

Performance Management

  • Implement performance metrics to evaluate financial outcomes and business effectiveness.
  • Monitor financial controls and recommend process improvements.
  • Review and optimize sales incentive compensation plans.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Track key financial metrics and provide regular updates to management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure accurate computation of sales incentives in compliance with plan guidelines.
  • Prepare profit-sharing reports for applicable products and vendors.
  • Support external audits and regulatory filings.

Qualifications

Education -

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field required.
  • MBA or professional certification (CPA, CMA) preferred.

Experience -

  • 8-12 years of financial analysis, planning, and business partnering experience in a pharmaceutical or life sciences company, including 5+ years in a business partner role.
  • In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical pricing structures, gross-to-net (GTN) accounting, and industry-specific dynamics.

Skills & Competencies -

  • Strong analytical and quantitative abilities to interpret complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and SAP (FICO and SD modules).
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.
