Day to Day:

The Project Manager leads all phases of assigned projects, ensuring alignment with contract requirements and timelines. They coordinate across departments to manage schedules, budgets, and deliverables, while maintaining strong communication with internal teams, vendors, and clients. Responsibilities include reviewing documentation, responding to customer inquiries, tracking costs, managing billing, and overseeing installation logistics. The role requires site visits, vendor coordination, and adherence to safety standards, along with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Must Haves:

  • 3+ years of project management experience in commercial construction (laboratory/science or athletic facility construction)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and budgets ($4M+ projects)
  • Strong skills in schedule management and financial forecasting
  • Skilled in coordinating and leading meetings across stakeholders
  • Ability to identify and resolve construction issues and disputes efficiently
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural plans (Revu Bluebeam software, etc.)

Pluses:

  • Familiarity with science classroom builds (e.g., chemical countertops, fume hoods)
  • Experience managing subcontractor work (e.g., turf installation, gym builds)
  • Construction-related certifications or formal training
  • Experience with ERP systems, particularly Vista by Viewpoint (they currently use)
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam for document review and project management
  • Background in manufacturing or product-based construction projects
  • Understanding of product specifications and vendor requirements (e.g., Porter for athletic equipment, Nevco for scoreboards, Kodiak for bleachers, Bedco for steel cabinets, Durchon for countertops, CIF for casework and cabinets)
  • Ability to anticipate and coordinate project needs based on manufacturer requirements

Detailed Day to Day:

The Project Manager is responsible for leading all phases of assigned projects—from planning and scheduling to execution and closeout. They ensure all project documents align with the contract, including drawings, vendor agreements, purchase orders, change orders, and installation timelines.

This role requires close coordination with internal stakeholders such as sales, engineering, estimating, and field teams, while maintaining open communication throughout. Strong written communication is key for responding to clients about product details, scheduling, installation updates, and vendor-related matters.

The Project Manager oversees project costs and budget tracking, reviewing reports regularly and addressing any variances. They develop comprehensive schedules that factor in product deliveries, installation lead times, site visits, and phased execution to ensure timely completion.

Billing preparation, tracking, and approval are also part of the role, with an emphasis on submitting the first progress payment within 60 days of order entry and minimizing underbilling.

Success in this position involves learning product specifications and maintaining positive vendor relationships to ensure project commitments are fulfilled. Site visits and participation in coordination meetings may be required depending on the scope.

Adherence to safety protocols and company procedures is expected. Additionally, the Project Manager is encouraged to contribute fresh ideas for continuous improvement and help deliver a consistent, high-quality project experience.
