The Sports Programs Coordinator, reporting to the Associate Director for Programs, plays a vital role in University Recreations leadership and activities, programming Intramurals, Club Sports, Unified Sports, and Special Events. Responsibilities include daily operations of Intramural and Club Sports, including recruitment, training, scheduling of student staff, budget planning, policy development, and equipment management. This position also assists with organizing campus-wide special events and supports the Associate Director in other operational areas. This role involves advising and mentoring program participants and student staff. Additional tasks may be assigned in alignment with departmental goals.
Bachelors degree in a related field such as Recreation, Physical Education, or Sports Management.
Two years of experience, including any graduate assistant experience.
Demonstrated ability in the administration of intramural sports, sports officiating, and competitive gaming.
Knowledge of sports rules, policies and procedures, and program operations for a comprehensive intramural sports program.
Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and project a positive attitude.
Must be available to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Masters degree in a related field such as Recreation, Physical Education, or Sports Management.
Demonstrated ability to organize and direct work activities of student employees.
Demonstrated strong working ability of various software applications.
Demonstrated ability to train student personnel in sports officiating, program administration and leadership development.
Coordinates all aspects of student personnel in sports officiating and program administration and leadership development.
Coordinates competitive sports events, tournaments, and leagues.
Assists with facility scheduling and equipment purchasing and inventory.
Works with department teammates to assist with marketing, hiring of student staff, safety and emergency action protocol training, and reserving facility space.
Assists with interpretation and applies policies and procedures related to Sport Programs.
Works with other campus departments which conduct programs with University Recreation (URec) including Academic departments, Admissions, Academic Advising, Student Activities & Involvement, Conduct, Athletics, Office of Institutional Diversity, Leadership Institute, and Residence Life.
Works evenings & weekends as scheduled.
Performs other duties as assigned. Intramural Sports:
Assists in the day-to-day coordination of the Intramural Sports Program.
Responsible for the hiring, training, supervision, evaluation and retaining of all IM sport officials.
Assists with coordinating leagues, tournaments, and IM Individual/ Dual Sports & Special Event.
Manages equipment inventory, purchasing and control for all intramural operations. Club Sports:
Schedules practices and events.
Assists with the development and educating of the Club Sports student leaders through orientations, trainings and monthly meetings.
