Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) is currently accepting applications for the full-time, non-exempt position of Custodian at Punta Gorda Airport (PGD).

SUMMARY:

Under the direction and guidance of the Custodial Supervisor and Terminal Manager, is responsible for the cleanliness of all airport facilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Handles cleaning chemicals safely during performance of all duties; uses personal protective equipment to include gloves, masks, and/or safety glasses if needed.
2. Cleans, sweeps, vacuums, mops building floors in accordance with specific cleaning protocols.
3. Ensures all custodial storage areas are well stocked with paper and cleaning supplies.
4. Operates several types of floor cleaning equipment, polishers, and vacuum cleaners.
5. Services, cleans, and replenishes supplies in restrooms.
6. Cleans and polishes furniture and fixtures.
7. Dusts furniture and equipment with a duster; dusts fan blades with long handled duster.
8. Cleans glass and mirrors with a squeegee.
9. Removes the trash from each area and disposes of it properly; cleans the trash cans.
10. Collects and organizes recyclable items.
11. Responds to calls for emergency cleaning and practices safe measures for cleaning and disposal of bio-hazardous materials.

1. Notifies Terminal Manager and/or Supervisor concerning the need for supplies, and/or repairs needed.
2. Maintains awareness of airport security issues and responds as required.
3. Works around the general public and assists passengers by answering questions or providing information.
4. Responds to routine cleaning requests from other departments and stakeholders.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

High school diploma or GED. One year of cleaning/janitorial experience preferred. SPECIALIZED FLOORING EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Able to follow detailed instructions.
• Able to complete work in a timely manner.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Able to problem solve independently or seek assistance.
• Knowledge of general cleaning and disinfecting procedures, preferably in a commercial or institutional setting.
• Able to learn, understand and implement all knowledge of SDS sheets on proper usage, emergency protocol, and disposal of all approved chemicals.
• Able to learn how to use all equipment as well as clean/maintain equipment after each use.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

• Able to lift 50 pounds, push, pull, climb, and walk for the majority of the workday
• Exposed to and handles hazardous materials

Starting hourly range $14.70 - $18.74
