Our company is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Director of Accounting & Finance to lead our financial department. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in financial management, valuation, FP&A, ERP implementation, monthly reporting, forecasting, ledger, P&L, and cash flow. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our company's financial operations, from strategic planning to hands-on management of our accounting and finance teams.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operations of the Accounting and Finance department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives.
- Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures.
- Ensure that all statutory requirements of the organization are met including Withholding Payments, Income Tax, Goods and Services Tax.
- Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Board's Audit Committee and the external auditors as necessary.
- Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions.
- Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash.
- Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting.
- Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy.
- Oversee the bookkeeping function including maintenance of the general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation.
- Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate.
- Assist the CEO and the Board Treasurer with financial reporting as required at Board meetings and the Annual General Meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior financial managerial position with a proven record of success.
- Strong knowledge of financial management, valuation, FP&A, ERP implementation, monthly reporting, forecasting, ledger, P&L, and cash flow.
- Exceptional knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, cost accounting and cost control principles, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Advanced knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting best practices, laws, standards, and state/national regulations.
- Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
- Excellent communication skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to work in a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, especially with Excel, and experience with accounting software and databases.
- Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload effectively, and delegate.
