Assistant Portfolio Manager (experienced as trader) – Hedge Fund (Short & Medium-Term Trading)

Location: 100% Remote

Team: Investment & Trading

Reports To: Founding Principal and PM

Deeter Investments is a performance-driven hedge fund seeking an Assistant Portfolio Manager to support short- and medium-term trading strategies across global markets. The APM will work closely with the Principal and Portfolio Managers to assist with trade execution, portfolio oversight, real-time monitoring, and risk management. Success in this role requires strong organizational discipline, precise operational execution, and a deep understanding of each position’s thesis, time frame, and risk profile. The ideal candidate can absorb the Principal’s market views and ensure that portfolios are aligned, accurate, and tightly managed.

Key Responsibilities

Trade Execution & Portfolio Support:

- Assist with execution and day-to-day management of trades across equities, options, futures, and FX.

- Monitor real-time P&L, exposures, and position performance throughout the trading day.

- Maintain organized and up-to-date records of each position’s rationale, time horizon, and risk profile.

Principal Interaction & Strategic Alignment:

- Work closely with the Principal to understand and track his evolving market views and tactical priorities.

- Ensure portfolio positioning reflects the strategic direction of the investment team.

-Market Monitoring & News Flow:

- Stay current on earnings, macroeconomic events, and geopolitical developments that may impact positions.

- Flag changes in market conditions, volatility, or liquidity that may require portfolio adjustment.

-Risk Management & Compliance:

- Monitor leverage, exposure, and concentration risk across positions and strategies.

- Ensure internal and regulatory compliance, working with operations to confirm trade accuracy and reporting integrity.

Reporting & Operational Coordination:

- Produce daily reports covering P&L, exposures, and key trade metrics.

- Maintain rigorous documentation of trade decisions, execution notes, and risk summaries.

Qualifications

- 2–6 years of experience at a hedge fund, proprietary trading desk, or institutional investment firm.

- Deep understanding of short- and medium-term trading strategies, market structure, and portfolio risk.

- Strong proficiency with Excel and Bloomberg; familiarity with trading and order management systems.

- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
