Job Description
Location: Dallas, TexasJob Type: ContractCompensation Range: $28 - 30 per hourWe are seeking experienced Proofreaders/Editors to support a surge in work volume during the busiest season (September-October). This role plays a key part in producing high-quality materials and communications for clients in the insurance industry. Ideal candidates will have a sharp eye for detail, a strong grasp of grammar and style, and the ability to work efficiently under tight deadline.Responsibilities:
Proofread and edit a variety of employee-facing documents for grammar, spelling, punctuation, clarity, and consistency.
Ensure all materials adhere to client-specific style guides and editorial standards.
Work quickly and accurately in a deadline-driven environment.
Communicate with project managers and team members to ensure timely completion of deliverables.
Manage multiple assignments with shifting priorities during peak season.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 2 years of professional editing and/or proofreading experience.
Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, punctuation, and usage.
Strong attention to detail and consistency.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
Flexible availability, including open windows between 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM (local time) and occasional weekend work.
Must have reliable access to a computer and internet.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with employee benefits, insurance, or other highly regulated industries.
Familiarity with collaborative editing tools (e.g., Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word track changes).
Skills:
Approximately 10 hours/week in August.
Growing to around 20 hours/week in September and October.
