Agency Description:

Options in Community Living is a non-profit providing community supported living services to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Madison, WI and the surrounding area for 42 years. People supported by Options live in their own homes in the Madison area . People live alone or with one or two roommates with support structured around individual support needs.

Position Description:

The Recruiter is responsible for all tasks related to recruiting and vetting new Home Support Workers (Direct Support Professionals) and Paid Roommates for permanent and fill-in positions. The Recruiter also assists to arrange for fill-in staff when needed. The Recruiter works collaboratively with all agency staff. The Recruiter must work quickly and efficiently to generate applicants, respond to applications and initiate the employment process. Office hours are 9a-5p, with flexibility as needed, as determined by applicant needs for interview times outside of office hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain efficient systems for managing applicants, hiring paperwork, interviews, background & reference checks, and referrals for openings.
  • Develop understanding of the various in-home support positions, responsibilities involved and non-negotiable aspects of each position in order to make a good match between applicants and specific positions.
  • Advertise and post openings using a variety of job boards and paid advertisements.
  • Regularly review and update procedures, policies and tools related to recruitment. Identify unmet recruitment needs and propose new approaches.
  • Track potential recruitment events and consult on appropriateness for our recruitment needs. Attend as needed/directed.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old
  • High School or equivalent
  • Successful clearance of background checks
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in basic computer programs: word, excel

Other Desired Knowledge/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in human services related area or equivalent number of years in related work experience
  • Knowledge of support needs for people with developmental disabilities
  • Knowledge of employment laws and practices
