Job Summary
The ACAA’s Heavy Equipment Mechanic will report to the Fleet Manager, and is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of all heavy equipment, such as earth moving and snow removal equipment, ordering parts, diagnostic checks and fluid testing.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions and is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme heat, and vibration. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Employee may be assigned to additional shifts, which encompass a twenty-four hour day, seven day per week operation, including holidays. Subject to remain on duty beyond assigned working hours to provide assistance during emergency situations, peak periods or extenuating circumstances.
MEDICAL EXAMINATION
Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) physical examination and respirator medical clearance performed by the Authority’s examining physician. Hearing ability must meet the standards / levels, as required by the Department of Transportation guidelines. Continued employment may be subject to respirator fit testing conducted with or without advanced notice and without individualized suspicion.

Employment is contingent upon the results of a post-offer (initial employment or promotion) drug screening. Continued employment may be subject to drug and alcohol testing conducted without advance notice and without individualized suspicion.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION
Ability to successfully pass a thorough investigation consisting of a criminal history check (including but not limited to the requirements of TSR/CFR 1542.209 and 1542.3), verification of prior employment and performance, reference and credentials checks, and in some cases credit history.
