Junior Software Developer
Position Description
CGI is currently seeking a Junior Level Software Developer who is passionate about using emerging technology solutions to solve challenging client problems. As a Junior Level Software Developer at CGI, you will join the International Affairs (IAF) group, supporting the mission of U.S. security, economic well-being, and global relations. IAF works with various clients in the U.S. federal space to support missions that promote national security, foreign relations, and resilient democratic societies.

This position is located in our Fairfax, VA office with work performed at client site in Arlington, VA; however, a hybrid working model is acceptable.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Code development according to specifications
- Unit testing and writing test cases
- Peer review other developers' design and code
- Diagnose and fix bugs in conjunction with QA team
- Coordinate and communicate cross-functional activities between team members
- Document development efforts and code changes on an on-going basis
- Support implementation processes
- Cooperate with multiple project teams to support production operations
- Develop UI, Business Logic, and Data Access Layers
- Maintain various web services architectures and suggesting improvements to procedures to aid in the
effort of continuous improvement
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
- 0-3 years overall IT/Software development experience
- Minimum 0-3 years of recent experience programming Java and working knowledge of Eclipse work environment
- Bachelor degree in computer science, information systems or related field
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance
- Ability to produce results within specified time frames
- Strong analytical and problem solving abilities
- Demonstrated ability to learn and quickly use new technologies/frameworks to bring added value to customers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired qualifications/non-essential skills required:
- 0-3 years of experience with OOP and OOD Methodologies.
- 0-3 years of experience with SQL with working knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle.
- Working knowledge of C / C++ / J2EE
- Working knowledge of REST Services/ Web Services is a plus.
- Working knowledge of JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX or other similar technologies.
- Working knowledge of MVC and single-page design patterns is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Spring, Stripes, knockout.js, angular, Hibernate, Bootstrap, and/or other analogous web technologies is a big plus.
- Experience with source code repositories (Git)
- Experience with unit testing (jUnit) is a plus.
- Experience of Agile Scrum a plus, especially familiarity with Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo)
CGI is required by law in some jurisdictions to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. The determination of this range includes various factors not limited to skill set, level, experience, relevant training, and license and certifications. To support the ability to reward for merit-based performance, CGI typically does not hire individuals at or near the top of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $67,800.00 - $165,200.00.
