Job Description

We are hiring Part-Time Math Tutors for in-person tutoring at both our Lake Zurich/Barrington, IL and Schaumburg, IL locations.

• Math Tutor
• TestPrep (ACT/SAT) Tutor

Tutor Requirements:

• For Math Teachers: Education/Teaching or Math Degree preferred. College students or professionals with strong Math abilities are also welcome.
• For TestPrep (ACT/SAT) Tutor: strong ACT/SAT score required (30 ACT/1400 SAT). No teaching degree required.
• Excellent Part-Time job for students at local Community Colleges.
• 1 years teaching or tutoring experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to make connections with students.
• Working out of one of our locations in Schaumburg or Lake Zurich/Barrington.

Tutor Skills and Qualifications:

• Teach using Sylvan based programs
• Direct and motivate students during instruction
• Reward students for successful work
• Evaluate and document student progress
• Communicate student needs to our Educational Team
• Develop rapport with students and establish a fun, engaging learning environment
• Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and Sylvan

About Sylvan Learning Centers:

• We are the industry leaders in providing supplemental education to children in pre-K through 12th grade.
• We provide individualized instruction in Comprehension, Reading, English, Writing, Math and Study Skills.
• We also offer ACT/SAT Test Prep and STEM.
• Given the pandemic, we are seeing growing needs for tutoring.
• We teach 7 days per week and require our teachers to work at least one of Saturday/Sunday, and at least one day during the week. We have extended teaching opportunities in the summer.
