The Mechanical Engineer role is an entry to mid-level position intended to develop an understanding of the overall business of the division in preparation for increasing responsibility and focus; creates and modifies drawings, routings, and related documentation under the guidance of Design, Application, and Process Engineers.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The essential duties and responsibilities of this job are included but not limited to this job description – other tasks may be assigned and expected to be performed.

  • Creates and revises drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and routings per established standards and procedures
  • Develops an understanding, through training and experience, of how design and manufacturing processes affect cost and lead time
  • Performs accurate data entry, documentation, file management, and related tasks
  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and makes decisions to achieve best possible outcome
  • Communicates and involves personnel internal or external to department for training, quality issues, etc.
  • Champions continuous improvement plans and projects
  • Works with Quality and Production teams to resolve manufacturing issues and concerns
  • Works with corrective action process through proper investigation and follow up
  • Other tasks, projects, and functions as assigned
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • One or more years of industrial experience strongly preferred (Co-Op or Internship included)
  • Ability to create component and assembly drawings in a 3-D Solid Modeling CAD environment (Solid Edge preferred)
  • Ability to accurately input and read data using an ERP system (QAD preferred), and similar computer programs
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good mathematical skills including use of a calculator
  • Proficiency in computer software in general such as Word, Excel,Power Point, and file management. Develop proficiency in position specific software such as CAD (Solid Edge), ERP (QAD), CAM, PDF, etc. as assigned
  • Develop proficiency in manufacturing process assignment and how manufacturing methods affect cost and delivery
  • Experience using hand tools and understanding of general mechanical components
