Provides support to the pharmacist in delivery of pharmaceutical care in compliance with all Federal/State laws and regulations. Works effectively and cooperatively within the workplace. Essential Functions
Assist in maintenance of medication inventory, related records and supplies in an orderly and timely manner in accordance with SRH policies and procedures. Assist pharmacist in preparation, documentation and dispensing of medications per established procedure. Deliver and restock medications and related supplies to appropriate patient care area in a timely manner. Greet patients and coordinate care from drop off through pick up of prescription per established procedure. Clean pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas. Ensure prescription files are maintained and current. Verify patient information and proper physician authorization per established procedure. Process authorized commercial sales as directed by a pharmacist. Process records of medication and equipment dispensed to patients; computes charges and enters data. Assist in obtaining authorization from physician as needed. Receive and document refill authorization per established procedure. Maintain ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office (Outlook) and department specific software applications to perform work. Communicate effectively and cooperatively in the workplace. Actively contribute to the achievement of Quality Improvement and Lean Process Improvement activities. Complete all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Maintain current licensure and/or certification as required. Attend and actively participate in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Comply with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
Education
High School diploma or GED required.
Experience/Training
Minimum six (6) months related experience required.
License/Certifications
Current Washington State Pharmacy Technician certification required. Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Health Career Association (NHA) Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) is preferred.
Other Skills
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills required. Must be able to effectively utilize Microsoft Office applications to perform work. Well developed problem solving and analytical skills required. Must be able to effectively prioritize workload amongst frequent interruptions with competing priorities. Knowledge of the healthcare environment required. Operational knowledge of Automated Dispensing Cabinet (ADC) preferred. Ability to coordinate work schedule with requirements of position (may include overtime and weekend work).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking up/down stairways, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. The employee must routinely lift or move objects up to 30 pounds. Repetitive tasks such as pharmacy compounding, typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems throughout the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus under stress or time constraints. Skagit Regional Health offers a comprehensive benefit package including medical, dental, vision, 457b/401a (retirement), long term disability, and paid time off to all employees holding an FTE of 20 or more hours per week. Eligible employees also receive sick time pay.
Pay: $23.95 - $34.78 per hour
