POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

\n\n

Provides leadership and direction for the University Health Department of Protective Services function at designated facility(s). Oversees daily operations and is responsible for administrative and supervisory enforcement duties involving general and criminal regulations and institutional rules. Provides for the protection, safety and welfare of patients, visitors, staff, physicians and property within the areas under the control and jurisdiction of University Health, d.b.a. Bexar County Hospital District. Promotes the University Health Guest Relations policy.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

\n\n

Some college required. Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice or related field from an accredited college is preferred. Successful completion of the Texas Peace Officer’s Training course approved by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) is required. Intermediate certification by TCOLE is required. Advance or Master’s certification is preferred. Five years experience as a police officer, including military and/or federal law enforcement, and one year of police supervisory experience is required. Police Officer supervisory experience in a hospital or ambulatory care service is preferred.

LICENSURE

\n\n

A current license as a Texas Peace Officer is required. Must possess a valid Texas Drivers' License and clean driving record.
