Project Manager – General Contractor – Data Center - Columbus

Highland Consulting Group is a National Executive Recruiting firm that specializes in recruiting top performers in the construction industry.

We are working with a well-established General Contractor in the Columbus, OH area that has an immediate need for an experienced Project Manager. Successful candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of construction management working with the construction of data centers. This position will complete a new data center from award to closeout. This project has almost a 2-year timeline, and they need someone that has experience in the construction of the space, implementation of all of the equipment, the tie in with several buildings, and the commissioning process. This is an on-site position and provides the chance to work with some of the larger players in this space.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Manages and supervises all phases of assigned projects
• Prepare and manage schedules
• Estimate change orders
• Negotiate all change orders and maintain change order logs
• Manage project budgets and approves all expenses
• Contract Administration
• Buyout of subcontracts & Equipment
• Interface with the owner on all projects assigned
• Assemble and maintain complete project records and close-out documents
• Perform project punch-list inspection(s), in coordination with Superintendents and the owner’s representative, and issue punch list to all relevant subcontractors
• Stay in contact with past clients for repeat work

Job Requirements

• Must have vertical construction experience as well as a history of working Data center projects
• A solid understanding of electrical construction is preferred
• Solid Communication both verbal and written
• Ability to establish timelines and budgets
• Experience in cost estimation and negotiating
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to lead productive, multi-discipline meetings
• Solid, proven and verifiable record of career stability and project management success a must
• 5+ years’ experience in general construction management with large project exposure
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required
• Candidates with a strong construction background will be strongly considered.
