Job Description
A clinically competent registered nurse who works collaboratively with community partners to provide needed services for the community by utilizing the nursing process. Responsible for conducting health screenings, patient assessments, preventive health measures and health education in the community setting. . The position interacts with patients of all ages, races, genders and ethnic backgrounds.
Qualifications
Education & Trainin g: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Bachelors preferred. Currently licensed as R.N in the state of Maryland and CPR certified.
Work Orientation & Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in medical-surgical or adult clinical specialty area. One year in experience in community outreach or public health preferred. Working knowledge of age specific and adult learning principles. Must successfully complete Hospital and Community Outreach and Health Improvement orientation and competencies.
Skills & Abilities: Ability to (a) demonstrate effective interpersonal skills; (b) convey effective verbal and written communications; (c) organize, multitask and manage time effectively; (d) utilize basic assessment and critical thinking skills; (e) adapt hours of availability to meet the schedule of community events including weekends; (f) make independent decisions consistent with current policies, procedures and nursing standards; (g) establish learning objectives and select appropriate teaching method; (h) effectively function as a member of a collaborative team; (i) utilize technology as appropriate; (j) respond to emergencies appropriately; (k) maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; (l) adhere to standards of behavior set forth by the mission, vision and values of the organization; (m) Nurse must work a minimum of two (2) events per month. Depending upon the number of events and size of the pool, additional shifts may or may not be available one event per quarter should be a weekend event.
Additional Information
All Community Health RNs are required to be trained and teach/facilitate one of the evidence-based programs that Community Health offers to the public.
