This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. ACE allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will directly support Blue Origin’s success through leading the development and deployment of Model Based Systems Engineering architecture, including digital standards, processes, and tools to define systems architecture, systems definition, verification and validation approaches, and gated reviews. You will support the evaluation and implementation of the next generation of model-based engineering tools. As a senior engineer within the ACE Systems Engineering team, you will champion and develop appropriate and efficient technical processes and methodologies for system engineering and product development including consolidated requirement collection and flow-down, requirement verification and product testing, alignment between design and manufacturing, system integration, and flight operations. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Establish, supervise, document, and improve processes specific to systems engineering consistent with industry best practices while maintaining the speed, agility, and efficiency of a development organization. The processes established will support collecting necessary compliance data, improve cycle time, user acceptance, and reduce defects and rework. Act as the negotiator between multiple and sometimes conflicting interests to optimize the organizational approach to system definition and execution. Work with internal customers and tool developers to refine requirements and implement model-based programs and tools. Chair/run System Engineering working groups and best practice groups to define the model-based strategy. Develop strategies and approaches for specialty engineering (operability, reliability, maintainability, supportability), integration, analysis, and verification. Mentor and educate Blue Origin employees on systems engineering processes and methods. Develop and present training materials. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering or other technical field. 8+ years of systems development and process improvement experience. Ability to communicate, coordinate, and work effectively with interdisciplinary and multi-functional teams. Knowledgeable of systems engineering practices, integration processes, and mission/safety critical systems. A thorough understanding of the objectives & value of Systems Engineering. Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness and strong problem-solving abilities with meticulous attention to detail. Partly self-directed and able to balance several tasks at one time. Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing process/tool improvement projects, including requirements, priorities, scope, schedule, and cost. Experience with requirements development/management tools (DNG/ETM, Jama), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) (preferably Windchill). Experience with collaboration tools such as Confluence and JIRA. Experience deploying Model-Based Systems Engineering processes and tools. Experience leading Continuous Improvement projects and driving Corrective Actions. Strong understanding of safety-critical systems development (aerospace or equivalent). Experience in reliability, maintainability, and supportability analysis and execution. Experience coaching and mentoring others while leading improvement projects. Experience in making routine presentations to large groups and executive level employees. Compensation Range: CA applicants: $146,644.50-$205,302.30; CO applicants: $134,838.38-$188,773.73; WA applicants: $146,644.50-$205,302.30 Other site ranges may differ.
