Pathfinders, a full-service integrated marketing agency, is seeking a principled, committed, and hardworking Senior WordPress Developer to join our team. This is a full-time, permanent position and is 100% remote eligible with occasional travel requirements. As a Senior WordPress Developer at Pathfinders, you will play a crucial role in all digital projects as a leader, mentor, and subject matter expert. Through close collaboration with Digital, Account, and client teams, you will be responsible for the development and continual optimization of high-quality websites, web applications, and HTML emails. By translating business requirements into effective technical designs and implementations, you will directly impact how we deliver on client and business objectives.

What you will do, in greater detail:

  • Collaborate with Digital team members and clients to produce high-quality, innovative, and accessible digital products that that adhere to approved UI/UX designs and follow current web standards.
  • Develop fully responsive websites, landing pages, and web forms using HTML5, CSS, WordPress, PHP, JavaScript and other applications or programming languages as needed. 
  • Develop and deploy responsive, mobile-first HTML emails that render consistently across platforms and devices.
  • Establish and uphold quality standards and testing processes for all digital products. 
  • Participate in code reviews with the Development team, manage/maintain shared code library.
  • Approach development from a customer-focused mindset; conducting requirements analysis to determine how to best meet client objectives in the time and budget assigned.
  • Maintain graphic standards and branding throughout a product’s interface, and effectively collaborate with Designers to define new styles, components, or functionality as needed. 
  • Assist in the execution of UX testing and/or A/B testing.
  • Serve as a resource for the escalation of complex user, application, and development issues.   
  • Professionally and clearly explain complex technical concepts to internal or external audiences.
  • Partner with leadership to define product roadmap and growth opportunities, based on client goals and/or marketplace trends.    
  • Connect data from web forms to CRMs and/or databases
  • Develop API connections / integrations. 
  • Ensure robust security measures, including data encryption, user authentication, and protection against common web vulnerabilities are followed.
  • Integrate performance learnings and key insights into ongoing work.
  • Attend all applicable required employee orientations, trainings, department meetings, and all-agency summits at the PF headquarters. Overnight/weekend travel will be required for certain agency events.

What we’d like to see in a strong candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, web development, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience working with HTML/XHTML, CSS, WordPress, PHP, and JavaScript development
  • 3+ years of experience managing Web Developers preferred
  • Advanced coding proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.Expertise in responsive web design and mobile optimization.
  • Proven track record of successful project leadership and client interaction.Excellent communication and teamwork skills, including mentoring abilities. 
  • Understanding of Agile project management.Proven expertise with SEO techniques, best practices, and requirements.Expertise in accessibility best practices and meeting web compliance standards (ADA, WCAG 2.1 etc.).
  • Ability to be patient, optimistic, positive and calm under pressure.
  • Experience with implementing digital performance tools (Google Analytics, Hotjar, CrazyEgg etc.).
  • Experience with wireframing, prototyping, and design tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of web security best practices.
  • Extensive experience with WordPress CMS, including custom theme and plugin development.
