Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A Special Education Teacher position is available within a K-12 public school district located in Onancock, VA. This contract role spans the current school year and offers an opportunity to support diverse learners across multiple grade levels in inclusive and self-contained settings. Ideal candidates will hold a valid Virginia Special Education teaching license and possess experience managing caseloads in early childhood through middle school environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in alignment with individualized education plans (IEPs).
  • Manage caseloads including potential inclusion and self-contained settings, with student numbers ranging from fewer than 10 in elementary self-contained classrooms to up to 20 in inclusion classrooms.
  • Collaborate effectively with paraprofessionals, Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA), or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) who provide supervision support.
  • Participate in training and onboarding to integrate into district protocols and educational standards.
  • Engage with district staff and other contracted professionals to optimize student outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Valid VA Special Education teaching license.
  • Experience working within K-12 special education settings, including both inclusion and self-contained classroom formats.
  • Ability to manage student caseloads of varying sizes across early elementary to middle school grade levels.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Commitment to delivering individualized, evidence-based education to students with special needs.

Location: Onancock, VA
Contract Duration: Current School Year (CSY)
Work Hours: Approximately 37.5 hours per week
