Job Description
Skillforce is currently hiring skilled Structural Welders for a contract opportunity in Portsmouth, VA! Per diem available for travelers.
This is a contract role working 50-70 hours a week. Pay for this role is $48.18/hr plus $125/day per diem if traveling in for the role. Anticipated duration of the project is 2 months. Government facility, so a federal background check and drug screen are required.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Perform flux core (FCAW) welding on carbon and stainless steel
Perform stick welding on carbon
Inspect finished welds for accuracy, strength, and compliance with quality standards
Follow all safety guidelines and maintain a clean, organized workspace
Collaborate with the fabrication team to meet production goals
What We’re Looking For:
Proven experience with flux core and stick welding
Familiarity with welding tools, grinders, and measuring instruments
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
Ability to pass 2g, 3g and 4g weld test
Ability to pass a federal background check with no felonies and minimal misdemeanors
Ability to pass a drug test
