Job Description

At Midland States Bank, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of short-term incentives (i.e. bonus and/or commission) and may include long-term incentives (i.e. stock awards). Position Summary

The TA Specialist is responsible for implementing effective recruiting tactics in order to attract and select quality candidates to join the Midland States Bank team. The Recruiters essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruiting, interviewing, ad placement, conducting pre-screening background checks, evaluating candidates, and extending and closing offers.

This individual will use a variety of sourcing strategies which include cold-calling, networking, internal/external website postings, social media, interviewing, assessments, etc., ensuring all candidates receive an outstanding experience throughout the process. Acts in a consultative role to both managers and internal/external candidates regarding the overall selection and hiring process, ensuring a pipeline of talent for select positions.

Primary Accountabilities

  • Assess, source and screen candidates, resumes and job applications.
  • Conduct interviews using various reliable recruiting and selection tools and methods to filter candidates in the most professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of business line performance expectations and effectively apply the knowledge to execute sourcing plans.
  • Consistently influence the sourcing and hiring of high-quality talent by embedding diversity and inclusion into the process.
  • Source and recruit diverse candidates by using a variety of networks, social media, etc. to reach passive candidates as well as those actively searching for jobs.
  • Act as a point of contact and build influential candidate relationships to increase the numbers of candidates in the recruiting pipeline and successful hires.
  • Identify recruiting trends and needs through internal and external monitoring
  • Research candidates and positions.
  • Network through industry contacts, association memberships, trade groups, social media, cold calling and referrals.
  • Proactively partner with university, organizations or professional trade groups to ensure inclusive, diverse two-way relationships.
  • Gather feedback and deliver professional feedback to candidates, as appropriate, in order to help develop themselves.
  • While finalizing recommended compensation, ensure internal equity is considered
  • Assist with preparing hiring managers to be able to utilize assessment tools and behavioral interviews.
  • Routinely meet with hiring managers to lead intake meetings, calibration meetings and ensure two-way dialogue regarding recruitment strategies, tactics and candidate pipelines.
  • Develop and deliver training to hiring managers and business unit leaders on talent acquisition topics, trends, recruiting processes, etc.
  • Partner and communicate with Hiring Managers and HR consistently throughout the recruitment life cycle.
  • Work well in a highly collaborative, matrixed organization where relationship building is a key to success.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • The role requires occasional travel for training and team meetings, and willingness to travel periodically, to locations within market as needed.
  • May require work in a Midland office to ensure collaboration and support of internal and external customers.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Education/Experience:

  • Associates degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in recruitment field.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in working with an applicant tracking system (ATS).
  • Minimum 2 years experience in proactively sourcing and cold-calling active and passive candidates.
  • Experience with a variety of sourcing methodology as well as social recruiting strategies and purposeful relationships for networking using resume databases, boolean search techniques, and networking with professional organizations.
  • Knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity and affirmative action requirements regarding hiring practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal, counseling, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Financial services industry experience preferred.
  • Experience working with external recruiters preferred.
