We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead the back-of-house operations at our café as well as the front of house. This role involves overseeing food preparation, maintaining kitchen cleanliness, managing staff schedules, and ensuring that food quality and safety standards are consistently met. The ideal candidate will be a team player with strong leadership skills and a passion for fresh, high-quality café-style food.
Key Responsibilities:Daily Operations:
Oversee all kitchen activities during service hours.
Ensure efficient and consistent preparation of all menu items, including breakfast, lunch, and baked goods.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen at all times.
Staff Management:
Supervise kitchen staff, including cooks and prep staff.
Train new team members and ensure adherence to café procedures.
Schedule kitchen staff and manage time-off requests to maintain adequate coverage.
Inventory & Ordering:
Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies.
Place orders with suppliers and manage deliveries.
Reduce waste and manage food cost within budget.
Food Safety & Compliance:
Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and served according to health regulations.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation logs.
Enforce hygiene standards and conduct regular kitchen checks.
Collaboration:
Work closely with front-of-house team to ensure smooth service.
Provide input on seasonal specials or menu improvements.
Support barista or service team as needed during peak hours.
Prior experience as a Kitchen Manager, Line Cook, or similar role in a café or casual dining environment.
Knowledge of café-style cooking and light baking (a plus).
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Familiarity with food safety regulations (ServSafe Managers Cert).
Strong leadership and communication abilities.
Flexibility to work weekends and mornings.
Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
