Position: Business Development Director

RSM is seeking a dynamic Business Development Director to join our growing team in the Mid-Atlantic market. This role involves driving growth of our professional services within the Technology, Media, Telecommunications (TMT), and Industrial/Consumer Products industry segments across the market. The director will represent all services provided by our primary functional areas: audit, tax, and consulting.

The Business Development Director will lead all aspects of the sales process, including prospect targeting, developing opportunity-specific sales strategies, selecting pursuit teams, and managing the entire sales process. Building and maintaining strong sales pipelines and forecasts, preparing presentations and proposals, closing sales, and finalizing agreements with clients are key responsibilities. The role requires working closely with industry and line of business leaders, engaging in prospecting, networking, and participating in industry groups and associations.

This position offers a competitive base salary and an uncapped incentive compensation plan. We seek candidates with a proven track record in selling professional services and an active network within the industrial or consumer products industries.

Responsibilities:

  1. Sourcing and qualifying new opportunities not currently served by the firm.
  2. Executing the sales plan and coordinating internal and external resources to secure business.
  3. Networking with industry contacts, professional affiliations, and industry groups.
  4. Collaborating with industry team leaders to identify key companies.
  5. Supporting cross-selling of services to existing clients.
  6. Developing targeted go-to-market plans with marketing resources.
  7. Providing market feedback to national sales management.
  8. Building and maintaining sales pipelines related to industry and service opportunities.
  9. Collaborating with staff to address marketplace needs.
  10. Preparing and facilitating presentations and proposals.
  11. Closing sales and finalizing client agreements.
  12. Leading cross-functional teams for market opportunities.
  13. Leveraging industry and technical resources for new opportunities.
  14. Working with other RSM professionals to deliver comprehensive solutions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • At least 7+ years of success in selling professional services to middle-market corporations.
  • Experience working across various industries and leading teams of experts.
  • Proven ability to drive complex sales cycles involving multiple decision-makers, including C-suite executives.
  • Established network of Centers of Influence (COIs) in banking, legal, and professional services.
  • Experience with proposal and SOW development, CRM tools, and social media for networking.
  • Excellent negotiation, influence, and business acumen skills.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with large regional or national professional service firms.
  • Active C-level contacts and community involvement.
  • Desire to work in a fast-growing sales team.
