Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, active DHH teaching certification, and 1+ years Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A full-time teaching position is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing supporting elementary students from kindergarten through 5th grade. This is a contract role for the current school year, located in the Virginia Beach area at a single district center. The caseload consists of 8 students, all served within the district center setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction and support to Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students in grades K-5
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Collaborate with district staff, parents, and related service providers to enhance student progress
  • Monitor and document student performance and communicate updates regularly
  • Ensure compliance with state educational standards and district policies for DHH services

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Active Virginia Department of Education teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Experience working with elementary-aged children in a school setting
  • Knowledge of current methodologies and assistive technologies for DHH learners
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with students, families, and colleagues
  • Ability to work full-time (35 hours per week) from the district center
