Heavy Civil Construction Project Manager - Milwaukee

A well-established construction and excavation firm specializing in earthwork, underground utilities, and design-assist projects is seeking a highly organized and detail-driven Project Manager. This role requires strong communication skills and proven experience managing budgets, schedules, and stakeholder relationships efficiently and effectively. The Project Manager will report directly to the company's President.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning

  • Develop initial project schedules and work plans in collaboration with the team
  • Communicate updates and adjust plans throughout the project lifecycle
  • Coordinate resource allocation to meet budget and timeline goals

Field Operations

  • Promote and monitor safe work practices on-site
  • Review daily field reports, verify production quantities, and oversee cost and safety metrics
  • Maintain weekly progress updates with the project team
  • Liaise with subcontractors, vendors, and clients throughout construction
  • Collaborate with internal teams including operations, superintendents, and leadership
  • Support the development of emerging foremen and junior project staff
  • Identify opportunities for operational improvements and cost savings
  • Proactively manage project risks

  Financial Oversight

  • Price and negotiate change orders with clients or general contractors
  • Track and report financial performance to senior leadership
  • Conduct monthly cost-to-complete analyses
  • Coordinate with accounting on billing and extra work documentation
  • Manage project closeout, including final quantities and payments

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in heavy civil construction project management
  • Proven track record of accountability and leadership
  • Strong work ethic and entrepreneurial mindset
  • Skilled in scheduling and financial management
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
