Position: Landscape Architect / Landscape Designer

Location: Grand Rapids, MI (Hybrid/Flexible options may be available)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Landscape Design & Development:
    • Develop creative and functional landscape design solutions for urban parks, plazas, streetscapes, athletic facilities, and residential/commercial sites.
    • Prepare detailed site master plans, grading plans, planting plans, and hardscape layouts.
  • Project Management:
    • Coordinate and manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
    • Work directly with clients, consultants, contractors, and municipal agencies.
  • Site Planning & Analysis:
    • Conduct site inventories, zoning/code research, feasibility studies, and environmental assessments.
    • Translate findings into comprehensive site designs aligned with client goals.
  • Construction Documentation:
    • Create detailed construction documents including layout plans, technical details, material specifications, and illustrative graphics.
    • Collaborate with civil engineers and contractors to ensure design integrity.
  • Sustainable Design Integration:
    • Implement green infrastructure strategies such as stormwater management, native plantings, and low-impact design solutions.
  • Client Engagement & Presentations:
    • Lead client meetings, design presentations, and project updates with clarity and professionalism.
  • Team Collaboration & Mentorship:
    • Provide guidance to junior designers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects , urban planners , and engineers .

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a professional landscape architecture role with a strong portfolio of built work.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in AutoCAD , Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) , SketchUp , Rhino , and/or Revit .
    • Strong graphic communication, 3D modeling, and design visualization abilities.
    • Solid understanding of landscape construction , grading , plant materials , and environmental design .
  • Communication & Management:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication.
    • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Licensing & Certifications:
    • Licensed Landscape Architect or actively pursuing licensure.
    • LEED Accreditation or equivalent sustainable design certification is a plus.
