Laundry Department Position

The primary purpose of this position is to perform the day-to-day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with regulations governing our facility, and as may be directed by the Director of Environmental Services. Essential job functions include:

1. Perform day-to-day laundry functions as assigned.
2. Perform assigned tasks in accordance with established laundry procedures.
3. Assure that clean laundry, linen, garments, etc., are distributed to designated areas as instructed during emergency conditions.
4. Assure that appropriate caution/safety signs are properly set up prior to performing such duties.
5. Ensure that work/cleaning schedules for equipment are followed.
6. Report all accidents/incidents in a timely manner to your supervisor.
7. Coordinate daily laundry services with nursing services when performing routine assignments in resident living areas.
8. Assist with department orientation training for new staff.
9. Attend departmental and staff meetings.
10. Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments.
11. Follow established safety precautions when performing tasks and using equipment.
12. Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner.
13. Follow established policies governing the use of labels and MSDSs.
14. Ensure that infection control policies and procedures are maintained when performing laundry procedures.
15. Discard sharps into designated container.
16. Dispose of all types of refuse daily in accordance with established sanitation procedures.
17. Ensure adequate laundry/linen supplies are maintained.
18. Ensure that equipment is cleaned and properly stored at the end of the shift.

Qualifications:

• Must possess, as a minimum, GED or HiSET.
