As a Freelance Produce Writer for Specialty Produce, you will be responsible for creating engaging, informative, and accurate content centered around various aspects of the agricultural industry, specifically focusing on produce. Your primary goal will be to create articles and product descriptions and tell the unique stories behind the product you’re covering.

Responsibilities:

1. Content Creation: Generate well-researched, compelling, and original content on different types of produce, including but not limited to fruits, vegetables, and other agricultural products. Write in-depth articles, descriptions, and educational information related to the characteristics, uses, benefits, and cultivation of various produce.

2. Research: Conduct comprehensive research to gather accurate and up-to-date information on the product you are writing about and implement a range of search methods (i.e., books, online, scientific papers, first-hand sources, etc.). Sources should be credible, and Research should be supported by multiple sources.

3. Quality and Accuracy: Ensure that all content is factually accurate, well-written, and in adherence to the given guidelines. Maintain high-quality standards in grammar, style, and overall presentation.

4. Deadline Management: Manage time effectively and meet deadlines for individual assignments or larger projects.

5. SEO Implementation: Familiarity with basic SEO principles to optimize content for search engines. Incorporate relevant keywords and strategies to enhance the visibility and ranking of the produced content.

6. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in writing about produce, agriculture, or related fields. A portfolio or writing samples showcasing expertise in creating informative and engaging content.

2. Knowledge of Agriculture: Strong understanding of agricultural concepts, produce and farming methods.

3. Research Skills: Proficient in conducting comprehensive research to gather accurate and relevant information from credible sources.

4. Writing Skills: Excellent writing skills, including grammar, structure, and style. Ability to communicate complex information in an easy-to-understand manner.

5. Communication and Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively, follow guidelines, and communicate effectively with team members.

6. Time Management: Capability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines consistently.

7. Education: Degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, or communications

Article Requirements:

1. Must be able to complete 2 articles per week; each article should be completed within a 4-hour period.

Schedule:

1. Hours Expected: Will be scheduled to work 8 hours per week.

2. Flexible working days: Days of work are flexible, but there must be a consistent designated day (Monday-Friday) or a choice of two consistent days per week (Monday-Friday) for articles to be completed (e.g., Monday 8 Hours, Monday 4 hours and Friday 4 hours, etc.)

3. Onsite Meetings: Must be available for onsite Meetings on Thursdays at 9:30 am, This may not be required each week but need to be available in the event each week is needed.

Position Location:

1. Remote Position: This position is remote but will be required to be available every Thursday to come on-site for an in-person meeting at 9:30 am.

Physical Requirements:

1. Extended Sitting and Computer Use-Ability to sit for extended periods and utilize a computer or writing tools to complete tasks.

2. Typing and Manual Dexterity-Proficiency in typing and the use of various writing tools with ease and accuracy.

3. Vision-Capacity to focus and work on a screen or paper for extended periods.

4. Travel- This role includes on-site reporting, so must be able to commute to main office location in San Diego, CA
