About Medical Mutts Service Dogs

Medical Mutts Service Dogs is a nonprofit organization dedicated to training rescue dogs as service dogs to help individuals with medical needs. We believe in the powerful bond between humans and dogs and specialize in training for diabetic alert, seizure alert, psychiatric support, and hearing alert. As a growing organization, we rely on grants and community support to continue our mission of rescuing dogs, transforming lives, and raising awareness about service dogs capabilities.

Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and passionate Part-Time Grant Writer to join our team. In this role, youll play an essential part in identifying, applying for, and managing grants that fund our services, education programs, and research projects. Youll also use Instrumentl , our grant tracking platform, to efficiently manage grant opportunities and deadlines. This position offers flexibility and an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our organization and the clients we serve.

This role has the potential to evolve into additional hours or expanded responsibilities as funding allows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grant Research & Strategy: Identify grant opportunities aligned with our mission and program goals using Instrumentl and other research tools.
  • Grant Writing: Prepare, write, and submit compelling grant proposals, collaborating with our staff to gather necessary information and support.
  • Grant Management: Use Instrumentl to track deadlines, monitor compliance, and ensure timely reporting on funding outcomes.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with the Development Director and other team members to align grant activities with organizational objectives.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in grant writing, particularly for nonprofit organizations; experience with animal welfare or healthcare nonprofits is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Instrumentl or similar grant tracking tools.
  • Strong research skills, with an ability to identify funding opportunities that align with our mission.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a focus on clarity, persuasiveness, and professionalism.
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of grant compliance and reporting processes is desirable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meeting deadlines and handling multiple projects at once.

Compensation & Hours

  • Rate: $35/hour
  • Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week, with the possibility of increased hours as funding grows.
