Job Description
The primary focus of the INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS SPECIALIST is the daily coordination of International Import and Export shipments via air and ocean service. Position would be responsible for customer communication on status of freight and creation of new orders in transportation management system.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for carrier and agent selection for all International air freight and ocean cargo routings.
· Operational responsibility for all TSA IAC compliance requirements.
· Ensures that customer and operations requirements are met on a daily basis.
· Subject matter expert for all documentation requirements involved in International transportation focused on import and export customs requirements.
· Management of customer assigned orders in terms of shipment tracking, system updates and communication with transportation network and customers.
· Maintenance of documents in electronic and hard copy formats.
· Produce, manage and update customer specific activity reports.
· Communicate existing or potential service problems to the applicable account manager or supervisor.
· Manage service providers to ensure that company and customer service requirements are being met.
· Act as a facilitator for carrier problem resolution in regards to claims, payments or other business issues.
· Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
College degree in Transportation and Logistics program preferred. Minimum three year’s experience with International air freight and ocean operations. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, great verbal and written communication skills are required.
