Accountabilities:

Customer Service and Interaction

• Assist guests with questions, purchases and locating product.
• Build strong working relationships with guests, vendors and associates.
• Exemplify key concepts of hospitality when interacting with guests.
• Build department sales by making product recommendations, answering questions and assisting guests.
• Determine carry out or drive up needs and assist guests in taking purchase to their vehicles.

Bagging and Checkout

• Bag guest groceries following M & J Food Market's bagging procedures and guest requests.
• Determine carry out or drive up needs and assist guests in taking purchase to their vehicles.
• Stock bags on lanes.

Store Maintenance and Cleaning

• Maintain bottle return area.
• Clean and stock restrooms.
• Empty trash.
• Perform floor sweeps.
• Respond to and clean up spills and broken merchandise.
• Miscellaneous cleaning functions as assigned.

Cart Retrieval

• Retrieve carts from parking lot.

Product Placement and Inventory

• Merchandise, price, and stock product.
• Set and maintain shelves and displays.
• Complete all price changes and tag maintenance.
• Work items from back stock onto the sales floor and work pick list.
• Rotate product to minimize out-of-dates.
• Meet stocking efficiency goals.
• Assist with preparation for inventory.

Receiving and Back Room Organization

• Receive and verify department deliveries.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of back room, including damaged product area.

Safety and Procedures

• Follow safe food handling and personal hygiene practices.
• Adhere to all M & J Food Market's policies, practices, and procedures.

Equipment Operation

• Operate cardboard baler and make bales as required.

Miscellaneous

• Return items left behind to their proper location.

Requirements:

• No education or previous experience is necessary.
• Proficient communication and interpersonal skills, including written, verbal and listening skills.
• Proficient selling skills to ask questions, listen and make product recommendations.
• Proficient cleaning abilities to meet sanitation and visual standards.
