Sometimes though, I fail to notice when the Lord is at work. This week was not one of those times."The Lord works in amazing ways." This is a statement that many of us have heard before and a statement I believe to be true. Sometimes though, I fail to notice when the Lord is at work. This week was not one of those times.
Recently God worked in a particularly beautiful and not so subtle way in my life; He has worked through the snow storm. Often I find myself neglecting the one thing I promised to always cherish - my relationship with God. Obviously I don't mean to neglect this, but the burdens of life often take my focus, something I know to be all too common in most people.
Through the snow God gave me an opportunity, an opportunity to quiet my heart and soul. He gave me an opportunity to spend time with the Him and we had a wonderful time!
Thursday afternoon I went for a walk and as I looked around I felt His presence and I sensed a quiet whisper as He reminded me of the the beauty of church.

As I was looking at the snow thinking about how amazing it is for something so small to change the atmosphere (not to mention the traffic) so quickly, I realized at church is no different. I specifically thought about the impact that Creekside can make.
He has made people like snowflakes, unique in their design. When those snowflakes fall together they change the world around them, leaving everything from the color of the ground to the activity of the day different than it was before.
Our church is filled with individuals who have different passions that drive us and experience God in different ways. Even how we serve God is different. We demonstrate our love to one another and the world in differing ways. This though demonstrates how great God's plan for church is. He has made people like snowflakes, unique in their design. When those snowflakes fall together they change the world around them, leaving everything from the color of the ground to the activity of the day different than it was before.
A single snowflake doesn't make a big difference. We alone can only do so much. The great and encouraging thing is knowing that when we come together as a church, our presence can change the world for the better. This has always been God's plan. For this to happen we must embrace who God has created us to be and must work together. When this happens we have a chance to cover the world with the Gospel of Jesus, the love of God.
We can change the world like a snowstorm changes Portland (only for good and not mass hysteria). It is my prayer that when we gather as a church we are able to focus on that which matters most. It is my hope that from the moment we arrive at church we will be seek God with all of our hearts and we will pursue His presence. If this will happen, I believe we will become a church that changes the world by taking God's glory everywhere!
